Real Weight Loss is Impossible, Unless You Change How You Think
If like many other people you have been trying to lose weight, then you may have come across some statement about keeping a positive mental attitude. It is really easy to say this, but what is it worth?
To be honest it doesn't mean much to most people when it comes to weight loss. If you have tried losing weight a number of times and all that you have got is failure, then some do-gooder telling you to be positive to lose weight is not going to mean much. The chances are that it will probably sound patronising.
Now you will probably not have heard this from many diets or weight loss programs. Yes you will lose weight if you have a positive attitude, but the problem is, where do you find this positive attitude? Telling yourself to be more positive is not really going to get you anywhere different. Real weight loss is not the product of just having a positive attitude. Whether you succeed or fail, will depend on your beliefs.
if you believe that you are overweight and that you are not going to succeed in losing weight, then your mind is going to follow what you believe. Now beliefs are what your mind regards as facts, although the beliefs in many ways are often personal opinions, they are your beliefs and your life will unfold accordingly. When you start to exercise or diet, you are being pulled down two different routes.
Physically you are trying to do one thing, while mentally you are thinking the opposite. Weight loss will always be out of reach until your mind and body are travelling in the same direction. This affects your entire life and is not just about weight loss. A positive attitude can only surface from positive beliefs, if you have negative beliefs about something, it is impossible to maintain a positive attitude
This is why you have to exercise your brain before your body, if you want to lose weight. Your beliefs are a map for your body to follow. What can you do to make things different? You can carry on doing the same things over and over again, trying the next big thing, but you will have to ask yourself, when was the last time that the "next big thing" worked for you? How many times can you keep failing, until you give up even trying?
Clearly you need to change your beliefs and the way that you look at things. Forget about weight loss, diets ,or exercise. You have to start thinking differently about losing weight if you want to succeed. Once this occurs, you will lose weight with greater success.
