One of the most talked about skincare procedures practiced today is microdermabrasion. One has read in magazines, a number of times, of famous star talking about the treatment and what miracles it has done to their skin. Not that long ago the only places where where you could experience the treatment was in beauty spas, salons and clinics.

The first micro-dermabrasion procedures were performed using incredibly fine abrasive medical grade crystals. It works out more pricey than one thinks because more than one treatment is needed. Most beauty spas or salons and aesthetic clinics recommend a block of ten treatments. The main advantage to having a professional treatment is the machines used are more powerful and so produce a better result.

The at home microdermabrasion machines have become very popular as they do not cost as much to buy. The microdermabrasion at home kits are commonly much milder, which, in the long term might mean you be required to repeat the process more often before any results are visible. A common disgruntle concerning the at home treatments are irritation and slight inflammation (commonly resulting from over use or not following the instructions).
