Reduce Those Calories To Lose Weight
There are a few fat loss secrets that you should know, but none of them are more important than the idea that you must cut calories to lose weight. There is a lot of information about that cutting calories, and maybe concentrating on eating salads, will shed those extra kilograms and pounds.
Unfortunately that is not how our bodies are programmed to work. Humans are a survival type of animal and have developed over time so that fat is stored for when it may be required. By reducing the calories too far our body will kick into a starvation response and attempt to store the fat already there.
With a reduction in food consumption to lose weight the body starts to adjust. The level of many hormones will change and signal that metabolism should decrease, appetite should increase, and fat should be stored.
By rapidly reducing what is eaten, or by going way below what your body requires the production of leptin will decrease. The hormone Leptin will signal that an increase in calorie intake is required. Our adaptable survival driven bodies will then slow metabolism, signal that more food is required, and store as fat anything that it can.
The best plan is not to hit some hard diet, with the major focus to cut calories to lose weight. A more careful approach is preferred so that we do not get into a survival type situation. By doing it like this there is a lesser reduction the intake of calories. Over a period of time there will be a deficiency in what is required for maintenance of weight which will lead to the lose of weight.
Combine this reduction in calorie intake with sensible exercise, that you can slowly increase in intensity, and you will begin to get the results that you desire. This avoids your body moving into starvation mode and defeating your goals before you have even begun to achieve them.
Skipping meals is not a way to reduce calories when trying to lose weight. This simply triggers your body to take those steps detailed above and try and protect itself. Instead simply reduce your intake at each meal so that you have a modest calorie deficit.
As your exercise intensity increases and you build muscle you may find that you are eating as much as you ever were and still be losing weight.
